🔥 Burned Out but Still Burning Bright
✨ Just because I’m tired doesn’t mean I’ve lost my spark.
So… yeah. I’ve been feeling burnt out.
Not the kind of tired a nap can fix.
Not the kind you can laugh off with caffeine and good vibes.
I mean the kind of tired that lingers—emotionally, mentally, physically—and makes everything feel a little too heavy.
The worst part?
It’s not like I hate what I’m doing.
Actually, I love what I’m doing. I love learning about forensic science, I love being in the lab (even if my glasses fog up under the mask 😩), and I love helping people. But passion doesn’t protect you from exhaustion. If anything… it makes it sneakier.
I care so much about everything I do—school, work, showing up for people, chasing my goals—and that’s exactly why I sometimes end up pouring from a cup that’s bone dry.
I don’t always notice it happening until I’m snapping at people, crying over literally nothing, or wondering why the smallest tasks feel impossible.
🧬 What Burnout Looks Like (For Me)
- Mentally checked out but still answering emails like “No worries at all 😊”
- Eating snacks for dinner because cooking feels like too much
- Thinking about school 24/7 but struggling to finish a 5-minute assignment
- Showing up for everyone else, even when I feel like I’m disappearing
💠Learning to Breathe Again
The truth is… I’ve had to teach myself that rest isn’t something I earn after doing enough—it’s something I need, period.
I’m still learning how to say no without guilt.
Still figuring out how to put myself first without spiraling into “I’m being selfish” territory.
Still trying to rest before I crash. Not after.
Sometimes it feels like the only thing keeping me going is the reminder that this isn’t forever—that I’ve made it through worse. And that I don’t have to do everything at once, even when my brain says otherwise.
💖 What Keeps Me Coming Back?
Even in my most exhausted moments… I still feel it.
That pull toward the lab. That fire that flickers even when I’m drained.
This isn’t just something I’m studying—it’s something I believe in.
I was made to help people, even if it’s in the weirdest, most silent ways—like giving a voice to those who can’t speak for themselves anymore. I get to be a part of something bigger than me. Something that matters.
And when everything else feels like too much?
My dog helps.
A good playlist helps.
Crying in the car on a random Tuesday helps (don’t judge me).
But mostly, remembering who I’m doing this for—my future self, my family, the people who need justice. That’s what keeps me grounded.
🔥 Final Thoughts
Burnout doesn’t mean I’m weak. It means I care so much that I forget to care for me too.
And if you’re feeling it too? You’re not alone.
You’re not lazy. You’re not broken. You’re just tired.
But even tired people still carry fire in them.
We’re still burning.
Still learning.
Still becoming who we’re meant to be.
And that? That’s enough.
